It’s been a while! For that, I apologise. A lot has been going on… (all good just to add! – just been super busy) but I’m back on it again! (And appreciate the messages from you guys asking me about me blog, the Friday Thought, etc…)
So I’ve finally finished the book by Steven Bartlett – Happy Sexy Millionaire.
I’ll honest, I didn’t really want to read it at first – but once I got into it, and half through – absolutely loved it! What a great book. There’s some nuggets of information that will stay with me – and I encourage you to go out and buy the book and read it. My Friday Thought today is a photo from one of the pages in the book… talking about the time we have on this planet.
We all talk about how much time we have, and how it’s limited. But do we really?
Recently, Sidhu Moosewala – a singer, actor, artist who was from the northern region of India, called Punjab was shot dead.
He was a Global Superstar. Some huge artists around the world put messages on their social media channels and many people were saddened to learn about his untimely death.
One thing that really stuck out for me, was a post on Instagram. Which is my Friday Thought… I don’t think it needs any extra words from me.
I know a few of you have reached out to me, asking – where’s my blog posts, where’s my Friday Thought… can I share an update on particular tech, what do I think of the latest gadgets, etc…
I’ll be honest. It’s not that I had too much going on. It’s just someone, made a few comments, that seemed to suggest, I shouldn’t be posting as much.
I started this blog several years ago. I know I don’t have millions of readers – and you know what, that’s absolutely fine. Because, what I do know… is there are some readers. And they engage with me. And I know I’m making a difference.
So, I had to re-collect my thoughts. Think about, the purpose of this blog – and then do what I want to do.
And with that, I give you my Friday Thought… I’ve been following Steven for a while, and really do like his perspective on life…
There’s a few things that Covid-19 Lockdown has taught us… in fact, it’s accelerated some things that were coming.
The evolution of the employee.
How we work.
And we’ve been able to evolve due to technology but also a shift in the mindset. A shift in thinking that is allowing us to add more value and be more productive.
Two examples I’d like to share,
I recall seeing in a signature of a senior leader, something along the lines of….. “I’m sending this email because this time works for me, if this is out of your working hours, I do not expect a reply”.
I recently undertook some learning – via LinkedIn Learning app. I did it in the evening. In my own time. And it was in short bursts.. about 10 videos each of which were 3 to 4mins long. It taught me a lot. In fact, made me do some ‘homework’ and really make me think.
That’s what it is about, right? – Learn, Think… Apply.
Would be great to hear example you may have, in terms of how you’re becoming an employee of the future…
