Apple Event… June 6th!

In an average year, Apple holds three to four events. There’s usually a spring event in March, the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a September event that’s focused on iPhone and Apple Watch, and sometimes an October event if there are iPads or Macs expected.

Apple always holds its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, and we’re not expecting any deviation from the standard plan in 2022. WWDC often takes place early in the month, and for the last two years, it has been a digital event rather than an in-person event. This year’s keynote is set to be held on Monday, June 6.

What we know, is that there’ll be the new operating system, 16… that’ll be shared.

Whilst you might not be overtly excited by this… Apple is working on new features for notifications, the Messages app, the Lock screen, and more, with some of the rumored features listed below.

  • Overhauled Lock screen with wallpapers that have “widget-like capabilities.”
  • There will be “significant” improvements to notifications, though we don’t know specific details.
  • Messages app with “social network-like functionality” with a specific focus on audio messages.
  • Health app with expanded sleep tracking functionality and medicine management. Apple is working on a tool that will let users scan their pill bottles into the app, plus there are new women’s health features expected.
  • Fresh Apple apps are in the works, with no more specific information.
  • Apple is also working on “new ways of system interaction,” but it’s not quite clear what that means.
  • New Fitness+ workout types.
  • Apple Music classical app with interface based on Primephonic, an app Apple acquired in 2021.

On top of this, Apple also want users of the iPad have more of a laptop/computer feel.

iPadOS 16 will get many of the new features that are introduced in iOS 16, but Apple is also working on additional functionality that’s iPad specific.

There is a new multitasking interface that’s in the works, and it will include a notable overhaul to multitasking and windowing on the tablet form factor. Apple could perhaps bring iPadOS more in line with macOS.

There’ll be news on the operating system for the iWatch, Mac and the Apple TV.

And don’t forget… in September, Apple will hold another event and we’re expecting the new iPhone 14…! (Lots of rumours to what it’ll be like… which I’ll share very soon with you all!)

So for the moment, look forward to a new and improved operating system for the Apple products we use in our life.

iOS14

So…. iOS14 is out for Apple users!

For those who haven’t used it or been able to test it – now is the time for you to download and install on your mobile and iPad devices! Now – I will apologize to the many readers who are on Android – I will try to share some Android updates, but as I’m many things Apple…. I just had to write up about this!

Now there’s a lot of great features that are available. My daughter has been able to…

  1. Add Widgets – (according to her – it makes it look nicer!) Practically, it helps you get the information you want, quicker.
  2. Added Steve – Steve is a dinosaur game – which you can play whilst on the homes screen (a 2D dinosaur running game) – reminds me a lot like Snake…
  3. Personalising the phone to make it a Tangled theme… now instead of writing about this, here’s a photo of it…

Obviously – with point 3, you can have it to any Theme you want – more so… I think there’s a lot more flexibility with what you can do.

Now, there’s a lot of practical features also… best explained in this video…. Enjoy!

Oh… and don’t forget to download Steve. I’ll pass your thanks onto my daughter.

Bhangra moves now recognised!

Last night – Apple held their annual conference where they basically announce all the new things that are being released.

Now, I will share the whole video link below but I wanted to give my top 3 takeaways from the conference….

1. Dance towards your fitness goal

Now, on those Saturday nights… when I’m dancing away and doing some Bhangra… it’ll all be registered and count towards my fitness goal!

How awesome is that! And about time too…..!

2. As you may know I love my cars…. and soon will not need my car keys! That’s right…. using NFC (Near Field Communication) I can in the future unlock my new car from my phone!! In addition – I can give others access to my car also.

Once in, you place the phone in the charging bay, and then off you go in your car….. will be first available on the new BMW 5 series.

3. AirPods Pro Will now give you a cinema type of experience!

The sound will be so awesome – you’ll think you’re in a cinema when you’re on the bus! It’s designed in such a way, that you’ll hear the sounds and noises around you as and when they are meant to be.

So there you go, my top three…. now there’s much more that’s coming like scribble…

… but the best thing is you don’t have long to wait!

And here’s the link as promised…

All about the Slofies

Do much last night? – No?… well… the first question would be, why didn’t you tune into the Apple event?! – I did tell you about it.

Okay, I get it… you’re busy, we’re busy… everyone is busy. And being honest, aren’t we busy on our devices – you know, the mobile phone, the tablet, computer, etc..

Anyhow – Apple released a few cool products. First up – the iPhone 11

That’s right – you get the 11, the 11 Pro and the 11 Pro MAX! – obviously, the first thing you’ll notice are the camera’s. That’s right – Apple have up’d their game on photography – and rightly so. The competitors have some brilliant cameras on the back of their phones.

Now – I could share a lengthy detailed blog post about the whole event, about the different phones, about the new products like the new watch, the new iPad and the new Operating system… but you know what – I’m also busy.

So – I’ll leave you with this video, a quick, short, snappy video which tells you everything you need to know. Enjoy!

Sept 10th with Apple…

Excited much?

I’ve previously share what the new iPhone 11 will be like. But haven’t share a lot about iOS13 – the new operating system.

New information coming out is also suggesting, if you’ve got an iPhone 6 or older… you won’t be able to take advantage of the new operating system, therefore vulnerable to hackers.

So which phone will run the new iOS?

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

If you’ve not registered for the event – you can do so. If you want a reminder, (like me) find Apple on twitter, like their recent post and they’ll send you a reminder on the day! Customer engagement done properly!!

I won’t share much more now… but will let you know about the event after the 10th… so stay tuned!!

Fitness and Airpods

Rumors are… there’s some new Airpods coming very soon!

I know – some folk will be thinking – why the excitement? What’s new about them? What else could you do with them?

Well.. for starters, we know that Apple are serious about fitness.

We’ve seen this in the iWatch. We’ve seen this in all the latest Apple gadgets. And we’ll see it in the new Airpods! That’s right – they’ll have a wellness sensor which adds to the whole Apple Fitness Ecosystem.

There’s also wireless charging, Siri functionality and a few other tweaks – mainly to the speakers to make the sound, sound better.

We are becoming more ‘wireless’. We are becoming more ‘fitness’ and health aware. With new devices, they encourage us to focus on the right things in life. Our health.

In the future – we’ll see more and more devices monitoring our health – and I don’t just mean our steps, which yes – are important but there’s more to us.

There’s reports of glucose levels… which would be awesome for diabetic folk. There’s reports of other readings that could be taken that could help folk with other conditions that need monitoring.

And how much will they be? – indeed… they won’t be cheap!

Apple’s New iPad Pro…

The gap between the iPad or any other tablet to be fair, and the computer are becoming more and more closer. What I mean by this is, that sales of computers (laptops) is heavily on the decrease and tablets sales are on the increase.

You can do very much all of the items you do on your computer, now easily – and with a lot more efficiency, on your tablet.

So Bal, do I need to buy a new iPad?

Well… depends on how long you’ve had your current one. I’ve had my iPad Pro – which I’m typing this blog from, for quite a while. Whilst it still does everything I like it to… I probably won’t be upgrading just yet. Tempted as I am though.

It comes packed with a number of features – which make it more in sync with the iPhone X and the new iPhones….

As expected – there’s a number of upgrades – including the camera, light sensors, etc…

Now – as you know, I won’t have time to review it for a few weeks – however, my friends over at the Verge have done this great 5 minute review, which shares everything you really need to know about the iPad Pro.

Review of Apple’s Event… and the New iPhones

Yesterday… Apple had their Event. Their main conference.

Some brilliant new items were announced, along with the new operating system… iOS12. Did you follow it? – Have you watched it all? – if not… don’t worry, I’ll summarise it here for you.

1. New iWatch

That’s right – there’s a new iWatch.

Packed with many new features – like it detects when you fall over, and has much more going on the watch face – but the one feature that really stands out is that it’s got the ability to carry out an ECG! Detecting low and high heart rates, shows Apple is leading the way with wrist worn health care technology.

2. New iPhone XS

Let’s be honest, the iPhone X has been a major success. It’s features (face recognition and much more) has been well recieved by customers. And now… well, there’s been an upgrade! You can now have the iPhone XS.

In fact, you can have an XS or an XS Max! The Max has a bigger screen… bigger screen than what you’d look at on an iPhone 8 Plus!

We were expecting it… and oh boy, doesn’t it look impressive!!

And it’s packed with some brilliant features…

One of the main features which i’m personally looking forward to is the Dual Sim!- that’s right… the iPhones will be able to accommodate 2 sims!!

3. …and one more thing.

The iPhone XR!

That’s right… a ‘lesser version’ of the X. It’ll be available in several colours… and therefore, here’s the full iPhone line up…

iOS12 will also have some great features…grouping messages and notifications on the home screen…. and much more. So much, I’ll have to test it out, and share it with you in an up and coming blog post.

One thing I did like about the Apple Event, was that they announced it on Twitter… and if you ‘liked’ it… then they notified you when it started. Ensuring no-one missed it. Brilliant marketing. But then… wouldn’t expect anything less. It’s all about having the ability to Think Differently.
